On Tuesday the 24/3/15 Clare had a soccer tournament in Leeds Road.
The people in Mr. Keane’s and Mr. Kilcoyne’s class on the team were Ben Dalton, Leon Kelly, Conor Maxwell, Gearoid Casey, Shane Hennessy, Eoin Cadaghan, Jack Flynn and Dylan Downes were on the team.
The starting team was Ben Dalton in goals, Conor Maxwell and Leon Kelly in defence, Eoin Cadaghan was in midfield and Dylan Downes was in the striker position. We brought subs in and out of play. In total there was eight players on the team.
In the first game we won 4-0, in the second game the score was 6-1. We played a couple more games and won them all by a few goals. Our best game was when we won 13-1. In the final we were playing against Newmarket on Fergus and we won 5-1, this meant we won the Clare tournament and we were the champions!!!
Four weeks after the tournament on Tuesday the 28/4/15 we went to Leeds Road again for the Munster soccer tournament. Sadly we did not win we lost our first 2 games 4-0 and we lost our last game 2-1. For the Munster finals our goalkeeper Ben Dalton McSherry was injured so Eli Murphy O’Sullivan went into goals for us and pulled off some tremendous saves. It was great fun and we are delighted to be county champs!!!
