On Saturday 4th of October a Sixmilebridge N.S team of Conor Maxwell, Conor Morey, Leon Kelly, Matthew Hurley, Luke Keogh, Luke O’ Halloran, Dylan Downes, Evan Murphy, Colin Kelly, Alex Carmello O’ Donnell, Eli Murphy O’ Sullivan, Eoin Morby, James Egan, Will Fitzpatrick, Mark Cleary and Óran O’ Reilly travelled to Ard Scoil Rís for a nine a side hurling tournament.
They got ready for their first match and went out to play Crecoora N.S. Sixmilebridge got a few early goals with great skill and showed everyone that they were there to compete. They drove them out of the game in the second half and won it by a great difference. In the second game they played Christ the King N.S, they were a great side and caused a lot of problems for the bridge team in the first half but the bridge held on and in the second half, although they were losing, they held on and won the game by a goal. They had a two hour break before their next match.
In the semi- final they played Clonlara N.S, they were a great side but they were no match for the strength of the great bridge team. It was a great final with great skill and determination from both teams but it wasn’t Shountrade N.S. Adare’s day and Sixmilebridge came out on top. There was immense cheering when Leon Kelly lifted up the cup for the first time in the school’s history. Leon was then announced as the player of the tournament!!!
