Student Council

St. Finnachta’s Student Council

In general, all Children’s Councils have the same purpose that is outlined in the Education Act (1998), which is to promote pupil voice, consult with management on decisions that affect pupils and to promote an inclusive school environment.

St. Finnachta's Student Council

This shall include the following:

  • Constantly looking for ways to improve pupils’ school experience and continuously engaging with pupils to determine what the pupil body wants.
  • Promoting an awareness of, and participation in, democratic processes, decision-making, teamwork and formal meetings.
  • Assist school management implement change aimed at promoting school improvement.
  • Act as a channel of communication within the school organisation (e.g. pupils-staff/ management; pupils-home etc.).
  • Encourage pupils to organise events in the school and represent the school at events and activities.
