We focused several lessons on learning about the heritage and customs of the Maoris in New Zealand and about the country itself. This theme was brought across curricular areas. In History we learned about the heritage of the native settlers to New Zealand- 'The Maoris', in Geography we uncovered key facts about New Zealand and their population, langauges, flag, currency..etc, in PE, we learned the war dance of the Haka, in Music we learned the words of the Haka, in Art we created 'Ta Moko'- Maori Facial Tattoos on plastic masks and finally in English we wrote postcards homes to our families in Ireland detailing all the activities/places we went to on "Our Trip to New Zealand".
