On the 3 of March 2015 Mr Keane’s 6th class went over to Ms Holly’s Junior Infants and paired up with a child. For the junior infants it was their first time reading to an older pupil. Half the class joined up with a child and went to the 6th class classroom and the other half stayed in Ms Holly’s class. For the first few minutes we got to know the child that was going to read to us. The 6th class helped them fill in a book sheet. After that they started to sound out each letter in the words. Every few pages we would ask them about what has happened. Overall we all benefitted from the paired reading and look forward to doing it each week from now on.
