During December we completed 3 weeks of guided Art lessons with Galway based Artist Dee Deegan of https://www.galwayartacademy.com/. This art project was organised by the Creative Schools committee. We definitely developed our creativity during our sessions. The inspiration was the jewellery worn by the Celts, Dee zoomed onto our Interactive Board and Ipads and spoke about the Celts and the Celtic symbolism and the Ogham writing which can be seen on jewellery in Ireland today. We collected toilet rolls, cereal boxes and Dee posted us a selection of art supplies for our creations. We did a of discussion, thinking, planning and designing before we came to make our art pieces. The first week we made gold pendants which we wore into the playground with great pride. The second week we created arm bands and we finished with lunulas on the final week. We really enjoyed our Celtic Art lessons and learned lots!

We had a very busy Science Week in Rang a 3! We attended Science Webinars online and learned about being a physicist. We learned about the properties of water. We completed experiments on Skittles using hot water and we played a Kahoot Science quiz using the IPads. It was very competitive. 
In pairs, we designed boats made out of tinfoil and there was great nerves and excitement when we tested them out to see if they floated or sank. The messy Oobleck was fun to explore and try out! It was fun to clean up too!!

In our class novel, Judy Moody was making me collages with her class. This inspired us to make our own collages about our favourite things, our families and friends, our like and dislikes. We collected images to represent us and then presented our individual me collages to the whole class. The collages were a great mix of photos, images from newspapers and magazines and creative drawings. We learned a lot about each other and I am very impressed with the effort and creativity shown by the children in Rang a 3!

We made paper and fabric collages of Cosy Autumn Cats in Art class. We had great fun designing our unique cats and using lots of different materials. I think they turned out great!

A few weeks ago I asked 3rd class to choose a topic that they would like to complete a project on. I am so impressed with the research, thought, design and creativity that went into these different projects! Well done to all involved!

3rd classes have enjoyed yoga classes taught by Ms Murphy this January and February. 
We have learned about mindfulness, affirmations, breathing, relaxation and lots of yoga poses!
It has been great fun and very good for healthy minds and bodies!
