There was music in the air at Shannon Airport on Tuesday, February 13th, when our school band travelled to perform there, accompanied by Ms. Ní Ghormáin, Ms. Cullinan and Ms. Tuohy. The band participated in the annual School Band Spectacular, along with pupils from Ennis National School, Gaelscoil Mhichíl Cíosóg from Ennis, and Milford National School in Castletroy. The event gave students an opportunity to play for, and with, other students from different schools, as well as for parents, grandparents, and passengers that were passing through the airport. There are 40 children in our band in total, from second class to sixth class. They meet once a week, at lunchtime, to rehearse, and are a very dedicated group. it was a very enjoyable event for the children, their families, and the teachers and principal. Well done to Hannah Fitzpatrick and Katie Moloney on their wonderful achievement of reaching the Grand Final in Dublin this month. Their project 'Do You Know What Cross-Contamination Is? examined the effects of food coming in contact with other substances. Hannah and Katie were presented with a Certificate of Achievement by Dr. Brian Mac Craith, President of DCU, and Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton. |
