Today the 5-Year Building Programme (2016-2020) has been announced by the Minister for Education & Skills, Jan O' Sullivan. St. Finnachta's NS has been included in the schools that will proceed to construction in 2016. We are delighted with the great news and look forward to getting the project on site as early in 2016 as possible. Dyslexia Awareness Week will be held at the school next Week to raise awareness and a greater understanding of dyslexia. A range of activities have been planned for pupils and there will be a presentation to pupils by Dr. Pauline Cogan of Trinity College Dublin who works closely with the Dyslexia Association of Ireland. Many thanks to all those who have provided prizes for the pupils’ art competition.
A talk for parents on the topic of Dyslexia & Reading Difficulties was presented by Louise Shiels, Educational Psychologist at the school in 2014. Parents who may not have been available to attend that talk may be interested in a course for parents that is being run by the Dyslexia Association of Ireland in Tullamore on 7th November and Dublin on 5th December. Further details on how to register are available on the DAI website. |
